Therapy for Anxious Attachment in NYC
Therapy for anxious attachment with Dr. Rose Miller, PhD, in person in NYC or virtually across New York State.
What anxious attachment looks like
A slow text reply sends you spiraling, you overanalyze every interaction, and you feel like you have to work hard to keep people from leaving. You may also attach fast, crave reassurance, and lose yourself in the relationship, sometimes overlooking red flags just to keep the connection.
What’s underneath
Anxious attachment often develops when love felt inconsistent growing up, so your nervous system learned to stay on high alert for signs of disconnection. Underneath is usually a fear of abandonment and a belief that you’re “too much” or “not enough,” so you work overtime to stay close.
How I work with anxious attachment
We use relational and psychodynamic work to understand where the pattern began, plus DBT skills to tolerate uncertainty without spiraling.
What changes
You start trusting yourself, asking for what you need, and feeling secure on your own, not only when someone is reassuring you.
What does it feel like when anxious attachment gets triggered?
It feels like an emergency in your body: racing heart, can’t focus, checking your phone every two minutes, even though, logically, nothing has happened yet.
